Timer Questions

Quick help
Q1 What is the Pomodoro Technique?
Developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s, it is a time management method using a timer to break work down into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by 5-minute short breaks. These intervals are named "pomodoros".
Q2 When should I take a "Long Break"?
After completing four focus cycles (each composed of a focus block followed by a short break), you should take a longer rest period, typically lasting 15 to 30 minutes, to recharge your mental energy.
Q3 Can I keep the timer running in the background?
Yes, the timer loops are executed continuously inside the browser context even if you navigate to another browser tab, rendering live countdowns on the tab header so you can monitor progress.
Q4 Why is the alarm sound not playing?
Modern browsers restrict autoplaying audio unless a user interacts with the page first. Make sure you have clicked a button on the timer interface (like Start/Reset) to grant audio permissions.
Q5 Are my focus durations, cycles, or tasks uploaded to a server?
No. All work block counters, rest cycles, notification sound triggers, and study statistics are handled fully client-side on your local device. We do not track, log, or store your usage parameters.
