Common Questions Answered

Quick help
Q1 What is a normal Body Mass Index (BMI) range?
According to World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, a normal adult BMI range is between 18.5 and 24.9. Lower values fall under underweight, and higher numbers represent overweight or obesity.
Q2 Is BMI a perfect indicator of overall weight health?
BMI is a general screening index. It does not measure body fat directly and doesn't differentiate between muscle mass, bone density, and body fat (e.g., bodybuilders may have high BMIs despite low body fat).
Q3 Are the BMI interpretations different for children and teenagers?
Yes. For kids and teens (ages 2-19), BMI is interpreted using age-and-gender-specific growth percentiles (e.g. CDC charts) because body composition changes rapidly during growth.
Q4 How is BMI mathematically calculated?
BMI is calculated by dividing weight in kilograms by the square of height in meters (kg/m²). For imperial measurements, the equation divides weight in pounds by the square of height in inches, multiplied by a scaling factor of 703.
Q5 Do you log or store my health parameters?
No. All computations occur client-side in your local browser sandbox. Your weight and height metrics are discarded immediately when you close the tab or reload.
