Provident Fund Questions

Quick help
Q1 What is the Public Provident Fund (PPF)?
The Public Provident Fund (PPF) is a popular long-term savings scheme backed by the government. It offers guaranteed returns, low risk, and tax benefits on both principal and interest.
Q2 What are the minimum and maximum deposit limits in PPF?
You must deposit a minimum of 500 currency units per financial year to keep the PPF account active. The maximum allowable investment is capped at 150,000 units per financial year.
Q3 How is the PPF interest rate determined and calculated?
The PPF interest rate is fixed by the government every quarter. The interest is calculated monthly on the lowest balance in the account between the close of the 5th day and the end of the month, but it is credited annually at the end of the financial year.
Q4 Can I extend my PPF account after the 15-year maturity?
Yes, you can extend your PPF account indefinitely in blocks of 5 years. You have the option to extend the account either with fresh contributions or without making any new deposits.
Q5 Is my PPF financial data or personal tax bracket uploaded to your server?
No, absolutely not. All compounding operations, interest checks, and extension models run entirely inside your browser memory sandbox. We do not store or transmit your deposit schedules.
